AMANAKI - "HOPE"

"FOFOLA E FALA KAE FAI E TALANGA"

Spread the mat and let us talk

Amanaki Pasifika pathway is a community based specialist team of clinicians working in Auckland and hailing from Samoa and Tonga.

Our therapists speak: Samoan, Tongan and English.

The uniqueness of the Amanaki service is that it works directly with individuals and their wider familty at the “grass roots” level.

Furthermore, it is delivered as part of a comprehensive treatment programme, by Pasifika clinical practitioners to Pasifika communities.

Our service is designed specifically for Pasifika and the whanau context. We combine international best practice treatment solutions embedded in a Pasifika world view.

Our work with clients is shaped by the "Kumete Kava," a concept from Tongan culture, literally meaning "Kava bowl". We use the Kava bowl metaphor to strengthen our tretment, and to provide a shared cultural connection. Together with our clients we work to change the thinking, feeling and behaviours of those with sexually harmful beahviour. This process is supported by education and support delivered to family and those who support our client
